Hearts of iron iv modding
In Civ 5 they have a ranking every few years on things like science, culture, and wonders. This could then great you some kind of buff (like extra political power), or reward, or just generally look cool. You would then get a popup with a magazine cover featuring whichever leader wins.
HEARTS OF IRON IV MODDING MOD
So I had an idea for a mod that expands the whole newspaper thing in a manner similar to Civ5.īasically, each year the Time Man of the Year would be selected from one of the current leaders in the game based on certain criteria. For instance, when Germany occupies the Rhineland, or Japan seizes Nanking, the Soviets take Berlin. Usually, when a significant event happens, you get a popup that looks like a newspaper. In the extremely slim off-chance that you end up making a mod similar to what I suggest, or any of the above are true, feel free to comment and let me know (or even better, mention when you got the idea from). They may be all-star amazing suggestions. They may well be worthless suggestions (at least, worthless to you). Many mods grow larger than the game itself – many best-selling titles today are examples of this.Īnyway, I had some mod ideas that I wanted to share – specifically, for Hearts of Iron IV because its the game I’ve been playing a bit at the moment. Others grow to the size of entire games, with complete development teams, and production values that mirror, if not outstrip, the base-game. My favourites are ones that restore cut-content or simply add new content seamlessly in. Besides, why make mods when I can write copious amounts of words about them to post on this blog instead? The kind of mods I would make – that is, ones that are small in scope and would simply add the odd thing for extra immersion – are usually already in existence, made by an individual or individuals far more talented than me.īut I have seen some great mods in my time – some are as simple as one determined individual fiddling with some game files to improve a problem or add something small but important to a game. One of these days, I may figure it out with a concerted effort – but modding has never really been my thing, so that is unlikely. Hearts of Iron IV has what looks like the most accessible modding tools I have seen – but that still does not stop me from failing to use it completely. But the truth be told, I’m better at rapidly writing walls of text than typing very specific snippets of code.
HEARTS OF IRON IV MODDING HOW TO
On a select few times, I’ve tried to learn how to mod. When I’m playing games, I often get a great idea for mod. I’ve included links and notes in bold with any relevant entries. If you want to skip right to the action, that is, the mod ideas I have, then just use CTRL +F and search for “1.” Also, some of the mods here I have since learned how and then made into mods.
